I have 30 years experience, designing and producing embroidery on my humble sewing machine, for numerous textile industries. I now love sharing my passion and skills with people, wanting to learn!
Join me in my lovely local spacious community hall and enjoy a fun filled day, surrounded by gorgeous fabrics. My groups are small and informal, with plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits! Just bring your sewing machine, preferably with a ‘Darning foot’, a packed lunch and lots of enthusiasm! The day is aimed to help you achieve maximum skills, knowledge and confidence. I will demonstrate techniques, give you clear and useful advice which will help you progress quickly! My teaching method is non technical, extremely free, with easy to follow instructions and advice. A normal domestic sewing machine, in good working order, with basic functions is all that is required, for this free hand embroidery.
My workshops are suitable for all levels. Whether you are a complete beginner, or want to further your skills.
I show you how to set your machine up. How to understand your machine tension and lots of really useful tips and advice to keep your machine (and you) happy! You will be given a pre-drawn starter project on arrival, to get everyone up and running, before moving onto your main project of the day. This can either be a cushion, lampshade or picture. My hand-drawn stencils offering many different themes, help you to create your own unique piece of embroidery Lampshade, lantern kits are extra and can be purchased on the day, if needed.
£75 Per person
This includes all your fabrics and threads, plus tea and coffees and biscuits! It also includes use of my stencils and design reference. Please note, refunds will not be given if you cannot attend but it may be possible to change the date.

For my one day embroidery workshop, everything is included in the price, apart from lampshade kits, (2 sizes available) lantern kits and cushion pads. You can decide on the day what you would like to make, choosing from my numerous themes and fabrics. You only need a normal domestic sewing machine for free-hand embroidery, no fancy stitches will be required!
You only need to bring along 6 things, including your packed lunch, for the workshop. Everything else is provided!
1 - Domestic sewing machine (in good working order)
2 - A Free motion ‘Darning foot’ – these are easily purchased online if you don’t already have one.
3 - Spare machine needles (size 70/80)
4 - Small scissors
5 -Plenty of spare bobbins for your machine
6 - Packed lunch

This course is on a Thursday evening from 6 – 8-30pmMy groups are small and I will take you right back to basics if you are new to the technique of free-hand embroidery.There will be weekly demonstrations of various tips and techniques. After an initial pre-prepared starter project, you will move onto your main project of either an embroidered lampshade, cushion, or picture.

For larger textile group workshops, the prices vary, depending on group size. 4 week workshops are also available twice a year, where we meet for four mornings or afternoon sessions. A larger project can be completed, covering different aspects of embroidery.
