About Lara Sparks

I graduated in 1990 from Loughborough College of Art and Design. Since then, I have designed embroidery for a variety of textile industries, including women's wear, bridal and kid's wear (even menswear). During this time, my work won best Bridal Embroidery award, for 5 years running. I have also featured on Television, showing some of my work. In more recent years, I design women's wear embroidery, which has been bought by numerous fashion companies, including Monsoon and Top Shop. My latest venture is 'pure indulgence'. I am making quirky handbags, cushions, brooches and peg bags, incorporating skills and techniques I have learnt throughout the last 18 years. I am inspired by all things typically English. Afternoon tea poured from patterned teapots, served with cakes on lacy tablecloths. Meadow flowers and all that is beautiful in our countryside. This is all mixed in with European folklore imagery, creating a mixed colourful textile indulgence.
